Most of us have come across a time in our lives when we simply crave some candy. Some of the more common grocery stores in the area can provide us with the regular day-to-day candies that we've all had before, but what happens when typical just doesn't satisfy your needs? While there may be some awesome candy stores in some of the other cities surrounding Calgary like Banff and Cochrane, most of us don't really want to drive all the way there, just to satisfy the craving. Well now, James Dobbin has the answer: The Gummi Boutique.
|The Gummi Boutique (or Gummi for short) offers what you typically wouldn't find at your local grocery store, gas station, 5 cent candy bins, or other candy stores may not. The product range is incredible, with 80+ bins of bulk candy, Retro chocolate bars, hard to find candies. They even have weird and wonderful gift ideas such as Bacon Bandages and Handerpants, which are Underwear for your hands. But not only the products available are unique, Gummi also offers you a unique atmosphere. Everything from the art on the walls, to the 1950's Philco refrigerator keeping their "Pop Shoppe" pop cold will keep you enthralled.|
"I've looked everywhere for the products we sell and have put in a lot of time to research the goods we carry. The number one question I get from my customers is where do you find this stuff? Sorry, but that's my secret."
Potentially one of the greatest parts of Gummi, isn't only that you can find all of these unique products and have a great time while you're there, but that they're also actively involved in the community. Having already made donations to local sports teams for fundraising events, as well as Gift baskets for various charities, Gummi gives back to the community what you put into it. Gummi is even sponsoring a local DJ competition held at Habitat Living Sound, where they are giving out free gift bags.
"Currently we're trying to get involved with the Children's Hospital as it's something I hold close to my heart and it's where I can see mine and my company's extra resources best spent."
Gummi puts a-lot of effort into finding the products they provide, making them unique and exciting. The greatest part about it, is that you don't need to be rich to go to the candy store, keeping things the same as when we were kids and our parents just gave us a few dollars to go to the candy store and buy something. The bulk section is only $1.95 / 100g for every bin, so you can freely mix and match whatever you want the most. Gummi also provides packaged candy which can range anywhere from $0.25 to $5.
Before I left, I had the opportunity to ask James what would happen if I wanted candy flavoured bacon. He informed me they didn't have anything like that, however they do offer a wide range of...Other bacon alternatives, for all of us out there who simply cannot live without it!
"We don't have candy flavoured Bacon but we do have Bacon Flavoured Candy, Lip-balm, Mints, Floss, and Lollipops. We're also going to be featuring our own Chocolate covered Bacon in the near future."
